Chrono-MBDyn user meeting - 2017
1st Chrono-MBDyn user meeting,
19-21 April 2017, Parma

In the field of multibody simulation, CHRONO and MBDyn represent two viable open-source solutions with a growing number of users. We aim at organizing a joint meeting where the users of both platforms could meet, exchange ideas, present their work, and learn from tutorials presented by expert lecturers.

It is not necessary to be proficient in Chrono or MBDyn to join this event: the meeting is informal and it is also open to new users that wish to learn from scratch one or both of these technologies; to this end there will be lessons and tutorials with hands-on sessions, lead by experienced teachers.

The meeting will also allocate some sessions for a mini-conference: partecipants are encouraged to prepare PowerPoint presentations, either to introduce themselves and to present their research activities in the field of computer simulation. This will be useful to present interesting applications of mechanical simulation (preferably of MBDyn or Chrono, but also other multibody software could be shown) and to stimulate exchange of ideas.

NEW DEADLINE! The new deadline for the registration is 15 March 2017.

Target
The meeting is oriented to people interested in multibody simulation software, with emphasis on CHRONO and MBDyn. A previous knowledge of one of these two tools is not required, although it would be preferred.

Program
The meeting provides sessions for different activities:
  • Mini-conference about multibody applications
  • Lectures about Chrono and MBDyn features
  • Hands-on tutorials, for both Chrono and MBDyn (split in two parallel sessions)
  • Round-table discussions about planned features, development roadmap, user feedback, new ideas
A preliminary program is available here.

Note that the first sessions will be organized in form of a mini-conference, where partecipants are encouraged to present themselves via PowerPoint slides that showcase their research activities in the field of multibody simulation. Preferably, presentations should talk about applications of MBDyn or Chrono, but also other simulation software could be showcased. Depending to the number of partecipants, the time slots for the presentations might be limited.

The tutorials provide for the recognition of 3 ECTS.
Admission
If a maximum number of partecipants is reached, partecipants will be selected on the basis of their registration date. In case of ex aequo, priority will be offered at foreign students, and according to the order of application.
